New home sales in US jump 8% in December

New home sales in the US jumped 8% in December from the previous month, according to a report released Thursday by the Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Sales of new single‐family homes were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 664,000, it said.

New home sales, which show the number of new single-family homes sold, were estimated to come in at 645,000 last month. The figure stood at 615,000 in November.

New home sales in December were 4.4% above the same month in 2022 when the figure stood at 636,000.
