In his meeting with the new Ambassador of China, Nong Rong on Tuesday President Dr Arif Alvi stated Pakistan and China were strategic partners and time-tested friends.
Ambassador Nong Rong was at the Aiwan-e-Sadr to present his credentials as new ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan.
The president congratulated the ambassador for assuming his new assignment and hoped the bilateral relations between the two countries would flourish further particularly the Belt & Road Initiative (BRI) flagship project China Pakistan Economic Corridor that is already in the next stage will see successful completion.
Pakistan, the president said, is proud of its friendship with China and people of both the countries have a deep bond of affection and love for each other.
Ambassador Nong Rong is the first non-career diplomat appointed as ambassador to Pakistan in more than 40 years of Pakistan’s diplomatic relations with China. He has brought along President Xi Jinping’s message of goodwill for Pakistan’s people and the government. Ambassador Nong has rich experience in economy, investment and international trade and his appointment as Ambassador in Pakistan is being seen as a right decision at the right time by President Xi Jinping’s administration.
With submission of his credentials to the President, Ambassador Nong Rong is now officially representing his country in promoting friendly relations between the two iron friends and taking the bond of friendship to new heights.
An official of the Chinese embassy while talking to Pakistan Observer said Ambassador Nong Rong would have no problem in further strengthening the Sino-Paki relations as both the countries are already on the same path to a common goal i.e. progress of their nations and prosperity of their people.
CPEC is already in its 2nd phase and both the countries have already signed the 2nd phase of China Pakistan Free Trade agreement, he said.
He expressed his confidence that the Sino-Pak relations will keep growing and the CPEC’s projects will greatly contribute to the well-being of the people and media would play the role of frontline soldier against all malicious propaganda against CPEC.
A senior official of the Foreign Office said Pakistan also expressed the same feeling of trust in friendship with China, saying Pakistan highly valued timely support of the Chinese government and the efforts made by the Chinese embassy to ensure timely availability of Chinese support to Pakistan during Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.
China’s unflinching support to Pakistan on Kashmir issue saying Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir is something Pakistan takes pride in, he said further.
