Sindh govt orders arrest of wedding hall owners violating SoPs

The National Command and Operation Centre on Saturday in its important announcement for those willing to get a second Covid jab said that it has specially designated Sunday for those wanting to get a second dose of the vaccine.

The National Command and Operation Centre advised the people willing to get a second jab of Covid vaccine to reach the vaccination centre without waiting for a message.

Meanwhile, Pakistan reported a coronavirus positivity rate of less than 7% for the fourth consecutive day, government data showed Saturday morning as Covid-19 claimed 79 more lives in the country during the last 24 hours.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre, 64,053 Covid-19 tests were conducted across the country, of which 3,980 returned positive. The country has mostly recorded less than 4,000 daily infections all of this week.

In the wake of surge in outbreak of coronavirus pandemic, the Punjab government has imposed lockdown in 15 selected districts of the province.

A notification issued by Primary and Secondary Health Care Department Punjab in Lahore on Saturday stated that lockdown will remain in effect in 15 high-risk districts from September 4, until 12th of this month.

Secretary Primary and Secondary Health Care Department Imran Sikandar Baloch said 15 high risk districts include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Khanewal, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Sheikhupura, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Rahim Yar Khan, Gujrat, Sialkot and Bhakkar.

Market and business activities will continue until 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday will be observed as safe days, he added.

The Secretary further stated that a complete ban will continue on indoor dining however, outdoor dining will be allowed till 10pm under strict Covid protocols.

He said all government and private offices and institutions will continue to operate with 50 percent attendance as per normal working hours. Imran Sikandar Baloch said transport between the selected districts will be completely closed.

The Sindh government has ordered to arrest the wedding hall and banquet owners over the violation of Covid-related standard operating procedures and lockdown restrictions in terms of time and number of guests in outdoor events.

Sindh government has issued directives to take strict action against the violations of standard operating procedures related to curbing Covid-19 spread and lockdown restrictions by the wedding halls and banquet owners.

The Provincial health authorities on Saturday announced 28 deaths by coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 24 hours.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department stated that among 28 Covid-19 deaths 20 patients died in Peshawar.

“Overall death toll by
coronavirus in the province has reached to 5069,” health department stated.
