KARACHI – The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has released its annual report highlighting major achievements in combating digital crime and strengthening national cyber security in outgoing year 2025.
The NCCIA, under the leadership of Director General Syed Khurram Ali, demonstrated strong operational capacity to safeguard national security and protect the country from digital threats.
During the reporting period, the agency successfully investigated 2,196 major cybercrime cases, achieving a case resolution rate of 36 percent. As a result of these operations, 2,902 arrests were made, while 774 cases were successfully prosecuted.
The report further states that five major organised cybercrime networks operating at both national and international levels were exposed. More than Rs461 million in assets were recovered and returned to victims of cyber fraud and financial scams.
In a major crackdown on financial crimes, the NCCIA facilitated the freezing of 46,056 fake bank accounts and digital assets. In addition, special operations were launched to counter online networks involved in child exploitation. These operations led to the registration of 35 cases and the arrest of 35 suspects.
To enhance threat detection and response, advanced cyber intelligence platforms were used for risk assessment. The agency also trained more than 300 law enforcement officers from federal and provincial commands to strengthen cyber investigation capabilities.
As part of its preventive strategy, the NCCIA launched a nationwide awareness campaign with a target of reaching two million citizens. More than 30 public service advisories were issued on emerging threats, including phishing, identity theft and cryptocurrency-related scams.
The agency reiterated that its core mandate is to investigate, prosecute and prevent cybercrimes, while ensuring a secure and reliable digital environment for all citizens and businesses across the country.
