The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested three suspects in separate cases involving alleged online harassment, blackmail and defamation of women in Lahore and Faisalabad.
NCCIA Lahore Zone Additional Director Atif Ameer told the media on Sunday that one suspect was arrested in Lahore’s Engineering Town for allegedly blackmailing a woman from Multan Cantt after obtaining her private pictures and videos under the pretext of marriage.
He was also accused of accessing her Snapchat account without authorisation, demanding money and creating a fake TikTok account in her name to circulate her pictures. The victim’s private data was recovered from his mobile phone. The suspect belongs to Arifwala in Pakpattan district.
In another case, NCCIA arrested a man in Lahore for allegedly distributing a Multan-based woman’s pictures and videos through fake online channels without her consent. An Infinix Smart 8 mobile phone containing the victim’s material was seized from him.
Separately, a suspect was arrested near Faisalabad Toll Plaza for allegedly threatening a woman from Vehari with the circulation of her private pictures on social media and blackmailing her through WhatsApp. An Oppo F19 mobile phone containing WhatsApp accounts allegedly used in the offence, along with related evidence, was recovered.
Atif Ameer said the agency had confiscated all three mobile phones and launched further investigations and legal proceedings against the suspects. He added that the NCCIA was strengthening efforts to protect women from online abuse and blackmail, warning that those involved in such offences would face strict legal action.
