The Sri Lankan cricket team will have the new computer analyst for the matches against India, it is learnt.
According to the sources in the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), the 34-year-old Prad Navaratnam has replaced the analyst GT Niroshan, who last week, along with batting coach Grant Flower, tested Covid-19 positive on return from England tour.
This will be Prad Navaratnam’s first experience to work with the national team. However, he had worked with Wests Tigers (NRL team) between 2016-17, followed by Canterbury Bulldogs (NRL team) as a consultant for a short period before joining Cricket New South Wales in 2018.
Prad was born and lived in Sri Lanka till he was 15 and migrated to Australia for about 17 years before being relocated to Sri Lanka and joined as the Brain Centre chief last year.
Flower and Niroshan, who have been transferred to the Government Centre are unlikely to join the team even for the T-20 internationals, which are postponed to later dates and by the time they would have completed their 14-day quarantine.
All Sri Lankan players and the coaching staff gave new PCR tests early Sunday morning.
The results of these crucial tests are awaited especially when non-vaccinated Sandun Weerakkody, the player from the alternative squad was found positive.
All matches are scheduled to be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo). The home team is not yet announced but the possibility of hiring player/s from few practicing in Dambulla (A team and Emerging) is not ruled out.
