Nauman Ijaz Responds To Debate Over Whether Showbiz Earnings Are Halal Or Haram

LAHORE – Senior Pakistani actor Nauman Ijaz has revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2024 and said reciting Surah Rahman played a significant role in helping him through his illness and recovery.

Speaking in a recent interview, Ijaz disclosed that doctors diagnosed him with cancer near his ear.

He recalled that on the day he learned about his condition, he looked towards the sky during prayer and reflected on his life, saying he had never intentionally wronged anyone or deprived anyone of their rights.

The actor said he prayed to God that if his presence was still needed, he should be allowed to remain with his family, adding that he did not want to see his loved ones suffer.

Ijaz also revealed that he initially feared prolonged hospital visits and painful treatments such as chemotherapy. He said he would recite prayers and other religious verses before going to sleep, sometimes hoping that he would not wake up the following morning.

According to the actor, after a close friend learned about his diagnosis, the friend advised him to recite Surah Rahman.

Ijaz said he has continued reciting the Surah ever since and believes it played a major role in his recovery.

He said he subsequently underwent a successful operation during which the tumour was removed.

His first chemotherapy session had been scheduled for July 23, 2024, but doctors called him in on July 22 and informed him that they could not find any cancerous tissue and that chemotherapy was therefore no longer necessary.

Ijaz described the experience as a profound turning point in his life and credited his faith and prayers for giving him strength during his illness.
