Provincial Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Syed NajmiAlam, has emphasized the need for a comprehensive 20-year livestock breeding program. Speaking at a high-level meeting regarding the Livestock Breeding Improvement Plan, held at his office on Monday, Alam highlighted the sector’s potential to increase milk and meat production, generate foreign exchange, and strengthen the economy. Alam expressed that the program’s primary goal would be to develop a complete plan, which would then be presented to the Sindh government and the Chief Minister for funding requirements.

The advisor also mentioned the need to secure the best breeds of domestic animals and maintain the health of livestock on government farms to maximize economic benefits. Furthermore, Alam announced plans to meet with the municipal mayors of Karachi and Hyderabad to advocate for legislation against illegal slaughterhouses and protect newborn calves and offspring. He expressed his desire to establish policies that would benefit future generations and support Sindh’s farmers and cattle owners, particularly those involved in animal exports.
