ISLAMABAD – Authorities in Pakistan’s capital are taking stern measures to contain the protesters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and now National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA) issued terror alert, warning that militants from the terror group Fitna al Khawarij may target key cities.
In a statement, the agency responsible for internal security warned both federal and provincial agencies about the potential threat, urging them to strengthen security arrangements to safeguard public safety.
NECTA highlighted the movement of several militants linked to Fitnah-ul-Khawarij, who crossed the Pak-Afghan border during the night of November 19-20.
The warning comes at a time of heightened political tension in the country, with authorities taking extra precautions to prevent any disruptions during the PTI protest. NACTA’s advisory calls for increased vigilance and enhanced counter-terrorism measures in urban centers across Pakistan.

PTI’s planned November 24 protest in Islamabad faces a setback as Islamabad High Court banned any rallies violating the new Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act, 2024, due to the Belarusian president’s visit.
The court pointed out PTI’s failure to submit the required application for the protest and emphasized the need for security during the foreign visit.
The government said no negotiations would take place if PTI continued issuing threats. Security forces have been deployed, and Section 144 has been imposed in Rawalpindi and Islamabad to prevent gatherings. Despite this, PTI remains committed to the protest.
