The Muttahida Naan Roti Association Thursday increased the prices of 100 gram roti to Rs 8 and 120 grams naan to Rs 15.
Muttahida Naan Roti Association President Aftab Gul said that the negotiations with district administration are going on. Rates of flour and fine flour bags have increased by Rs 800 and Rs 1,200 respectively, he said.
Vice chairman of the association Mir Daad Khan said that the tandoor owners will only sell cheap roti and naan when they are provided with flour at lower cost as they cannot bear further loses.
Taking notice of increase in prices of naan and roti, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has taken notice of hike in roti and naan prices and ordered the administration to take every possible step to maintain stability in rates.
In a statement on Thursday, Sardar Usman Buzdar said that there is no justification for increase in prices of Naan and Roti. He directed the Provincial Price Control Committee to take immediate steps for this purpose.
Last week, the Muttahida Naan Roti Association had announced to increase the price of roti and naan by Rs4 and Rs5, respectively, from June 10 onwards. The decision was taken in an emergency meeting of the body on Friday.
