Rich tributes paid to Quaid-e-Azam on 148th birth anniversary
The Muslims of the subcontinent owe a great deal to the Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for carving out a new country for them on the map of the world thus changing the course of history.
These views were expressed by speakers at the NPC’s monthly literary and cultural conference Nuqta-e-Nazr this time held with special reference to 148th birth anniversary of the Quaid-e-Azam organized by the Nazriya Pakistan Council (NPC) at the Aiwan-e-Quaid Fatima Jinnah Park. A cake was also cut on the occasion to celebrate Quaid-e-Azam’s birthday.
The event was presided over by Chairman of the NPC Mian Muhammad Javed and addressed by eminent scholar and historian Dr Farooq Adil (as Chief Guest), Ambassador (R) Salahuddin Chaudhry (Guests of Honour), NPC Vice Chairman Abdullah Yousaf, President of the Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Urdu Attaur Rehman Chohan, Muhammad Daud Kaif, Dr Sajid Khakwani, writers Afshan Abbasi, Muhammad Ali, Dr Sajid Kiani, Naeem Fatima Alvi and others.
Dr Farooq Adil paying rich tributes to Quaid-e-Azam said he was a towering personality and led successfully a peaceful movement and won against the Hindus and the English without confronting or violent protests.
Wisdom and foresight were Quaid-e-Azam’s two major weapons besides an indomitable will to stand firm in the face of the worst odds.
He was not only a benefactor of the Muslims of India but a role model for all those who believed in peaceful struggle and non-violent movement.
NPC Chairman Mian Muhammad Javed called Quaid-e-Azam a charismatic leader adding whenever he attended a conference about Quaid-e-Azam he discovered new dimensions of his personality and leadership. In short Quaid was a larger-than-life personality. He didn’t have any feelings of contempt or enmity even against his worst enemies as he was a man of principles.
Member of the NPC Executive Committee and former ambassador Salahuddin Chaudhry said Quaid-e-Azam was a statesman of international stature and an upright man. This is why even his rivals couldn’t help respecting him.
He also read out a poem he has written on the personality and achievements of Quaid-e-Azam. Muhammad Daud Kaif quoted from Stanley Wolpert’s book ‘Jinnah of Pakistan’ to establish the greatness of the Founder of Pakistan.
Sajid Khakwani dismissed the view of a secular leader and insisted that Quaid-e-Azam was a true Muslim and he proved that on a number of occasions.
Writer Muhammad Ali said such thought-provoking sessions should be attended by the young audience particularly the students so that they could understand and learn from the achievements of their leaders. Naeem Fatima Alvi was of the view that we should take inspiration from the life and achievements of Quaid-e-Azam. This is how nations become great, she said.
