MUMBAI – Actress Ayesha Khan was detained by Mumbai Police on Thursday while attending a demonstration held in support of students demanding education reforms.
The actress, who appeared in the song Shararat from the film Dhurandhar, shared videos on Instagram showing herself inside a police vehicle and later at a police station. She claimed she was taken into custody despite standing peacefully near the protest venue.
According to Ayesha, she had not joined the demonstration and was waiting near the site after her brother and several friends were detained by police.
In one of the videos, the actress questioned the reason for her detention, stating that she had neither broken any law nor actively participated in the protest. She also alleged that several police personnel escorted her into a police vehicle before taking her to Worli Police Station.
The demonstration was part of a broader campaign in support of students seeking reforms in the education system, with several members of the entertainment industry expressing solidarity with the movement.
Mumbai Police had not issued an official response to Ayesha Khan’s allegations at the time of filing this report.
