Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection Dr Sania Nishtar has said that multi welfare initiatives were being launched under ‘Ahsas Kafalat Program’ to support poor families across the country. Addressing a media briefing at Deputy Commissioner Tank office on Saturday, Dr Sania Nishtar strongly negated the speculations about ‘Ahsas Kafalat Program’ saying the information collection during the program survey was only meant to get maximum information of deserving families and to reach them for help.
‘The collected information is safe and unshared therefore it is a national responsibility of all of us to cooperate with the government and provide the survey teams with actual facts and figures’ said Dr Sania Nishtar. She noted that seven million deserving women would be considered for a monthly stipend of PKR 2000/ under the program and added that so far 61% of the survey was completed.
She further maintained that provision of monthly nutrition stipend for children, interest free loans (Qarza e Hasana), and study scholarships for deserving students were some of the initiatives of the program which all focus to support the ailing families and boost their socio-economic condition. On this eve, Deputy Commissioner Kabir Afridi, District Police Officer Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada, and representatives of other departments were also present.
