Though the national assembly proceeding was in progress to debate over the federal budget 2023-24, but majority of parliamentarians were targeting the PTI leadership with special reference to May 9 incident.

They claimed that PTI was responsible for price hike and economic instability. Taking part in the budget debate, Federal Minister for Human Rights, Riaz Hussain Pirzada said that no one should teach us a lesson on human rights as the government was effectively dealing with the May 9 attackers in accordance with the country’s constitution and laws. Defended Pakistan’s stance on human rights, he said that no one should deliver lecture to the country on this matter. He emphasized that Pakistan was effectively dealing with the attackers from the May 9 incident in accordance with the country’s constitution and laws.

Furthermore, he highlighted that the National Commission for Human Rights had not received any complaints regarding the mistreatment of women in prisons. He expressed concerns about the defamation of Pakistan by its adversaries through social media. The minister stressed that Pakistan was fully aware of the challenges faced by minority groups.

He accused the neighboring country of interfering in Pakistan’s internal affairs and fueling religious hostility. The minister noted a decrease in targeted sectarian killings in Quetta following the arrest of Kulbhushan, indicating a potential connection.

As a routine targeting the PTI, Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif said the previous government had ruined the economy and institutions due to its failed policy. Taking part in the budget debate, Khawaja Asif also talked about the May 9 incidents which he said was equal to challenging writ of the state, adding it never happened in the country that a party after being ousted from the government in a legal and constitutional way resorted to attacking the military installations and damaging the martyrs memorials. He informed the House that around 32,000 persons had so far been identified for their alleged involvement in vandalism of the military installations and memorials of the martyrs.
