Morocco’s sovereign, His Majesty King Mohammed VI by a royal decree has granted Pakistan’s Ambassador in Morocco, Mr Hamid Asghar Khan Morocco’s high national award “Wissam Alaoui.”

Ambassador Khan has been named for this singular honour on account of his meritorious services as Envoy and for his untiring work to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries.

Ambassador of Morocco in Pakistan Mohamed Karmoune will present the royal award to his Pakistani counterpart next month in March during a special ceremony at the Kingdom’s embassy in Islamabad.

Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan who has been rendering invaluable services since 2018 in Morocco focused on enhancing business-to-business (B2B) and people-to-people (P2P) contacts between the two countries. While talking to Pakistan Observer, Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan termed the award a great honour and privilege and pledged to continue his efforts for the warmer, closer and stronger bilateral relations between Morocco and Pakistan.

“Our ties are rooted in history, mutual respect between the two people. We witnessed enhanced military ties in the last four years particularly after the successful visits of the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC),” he said. He also highlighted Morocco’s role in Pakistan’s fertilizer sector and in return doubled Pakistani rice exports to Morocco in the last four years (during his stint).

Besides, Pakistan’s soft image has received a boost and the country was given a special place as Country of Honour in the annual diplomatic car rally in 2021, he said. Moroccan people keep the Pakistani leadership and people in high esteem and still remember the robust Pakistani support at the time of their independence struggle.

They view the Pakistan army as the premier military force of the Muslim world with state of art weapons and equipment thanks to the genius of Pakistani scientists.
