The law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) have foundmore proof of the use of foreign weapons by Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan(TTP) and other banned militias against the country’s security forces.

Pakistan has been locked in a conflict with the TTP for the last twodecades. And to make matters worse for the forces in Pakistan, the weapons, whichthe US forces had left behind before leaving Afghanistan, have nowfallen into the hands of these militants. This development has led to asurge in incidents of terrorism in the country.

Two days ago, on December 29, 2023, the security forces, in anintelligence-based operation carried out in Mir Ali area of NorthWaziristan, had also recovered made-in-the-USA weapons and explosives, including AK-47 rifles. Five terrorists were gunned down in thatoperation too.

Similarly, same weapons were used by the militants belonging to theBaloch Liberation Army (BLA) in their attack on the FC checkposts inNoshki and Panjgur in 2022.

Likewise, the TTP had also used the US weapons in their assault on ZhobGarrison in July, 2023.

TTP militants, equipped with the latest US weapons, had attacked twoPakistan Army posts in Chitral on September 6, 2023.

Similarly, foreign weapons had also been recovered from the militantswho had stormed the Mianwali airbase on November 4, 2023. The weaponsrecovered included RPG-7, AK-74, M-4 and M-16 A-4.—NNI
