ISLAMABAD – More rains with isolated heavy falls and gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Sunday night and Monday with occasional gaps.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), low pressure in the lower tropospheric level lies over upper Sindh and surroundings. Strong Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea penetrate the southern & eastern parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave prevails over northwestern parts of the country.

Under these conditions, intermittent rains with isolated heavy falls are expected in the twin cities, Sindh, Balochistan, northeast/south Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar region, Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Sunday night and Monday.

Torrential rains will likely generate flash-flooding in local nullahs/streams/hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, Koh Sulaiman, Harnai, Sabi, Mastung, Kharan, Jhal Magsi, Kohlu, Nasirabad, Jafarabad, Zhob, Bolan, Kalat, Khuzdar, Barkhan, Lasbella, Awaran, Dadu, Koh Kirthar and Kashmir on 18th August. Downpours may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of central/lower Sindh and south Punjab. Landslides may disrupt traffic in the vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat and Kashmir.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 30-32°C on Monday and Tuesday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 31-33°C on Monday and Tuesday.

Meanwhile, rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Balochistan and Gupis during the last 24 hours.
