ISLAMABAD – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday ordered the construction of two new underpasses in Islamabad to ease traffic congestion and improve public convenience.
Mohsin Naqvi gave this order while chairing a meeting at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) headquarters to review ongoing and upcoming development projects in the capital.
He said construction work on the Kashmir Chowk and Faisal Mosque underpasses would begin next month.
The minister expressed serious concern over the continued absence of a fully operational Rescue 1122 emergency response system in Islamabad and directed authorities to take immediate steps to establish an effective Capital Emergency Services system.
He ordered that all legal requirements be completed and work on four new Capital Emergency Services centres begin at the earliest.
The meeting also reviewed proposals to increase the CDA’s permanent revenue and improve its financial sustainability.
Naqvi directed officials to develop a long-term revenue model to make the authority financially self-reliant, stressing that strengthening the institution’s finances was as important as executing development projects.
He also called for swift progress on practical initiatives aimed at increasing revenue.
Regarding the Expressway Service Road project, the interior minister directed officials to ensure that construction is completed within the निर्धारित timeline without delay.
The officials briefed the meeting on progress on several mega projects in Islamabad, as well as plans for future development initiatives in the capital.
