LAHORE – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was invited to attend the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) Board meeting as well as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 final scheduled in Ahmedabad later this month, the sources close to the development said on Saturday.
The ICC would hold a series of important meetings, including the Chief Executives Committee (CEC) session and the Board meeting, where key discussions on the future of the World Test Championship (WTC) are expected to take place.
The CEC meeting is scheduled to be held virtually on May 21, while the ICC Board meeting will take place in person on May 30 and 31 in Ahmedabad. The IPL 2026 final will also be played on May 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Sources said that under normal circumstances, the PCB chairman would be expected to attend the meetings in person; however, ongoing diplomatic sensitivities between the two countries and their cricket boards may influence his participation.
It has further been reported that Mohsin Naqvi has forwarded the invitation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for a final decision regarding his travel and attendance at both the ICC meetings and the IPL final.
The ICC meetings are part of its routine quarterly schedule, which were originally planned for March–April in Doha but were postponed due to regional developments.
