Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Monday said that the policies of Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi are threat to regional peace. In a post on social-networking website, the minister said that the behavior of Indian government with Punjabi farmers is shameful. Gujrati Hindutva don’t care about poor farmers, he added.
Fawad Chaudhry further urged the international community to raise voice against discrimination in India. The reaction came after India deployed hundreds of police and paramilitary forces at a New Delhi border as thousands of farmers blocked major roads into the capital, in protest against recent agricultural deregulation. Farmers who arrived in trucks, buses and tractors at Delhi’s Singhu border with Haryana state, blocked the main northern highway into the capital, chanting slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and waved the red, yellow green flags of farmer’s unions.—INP
