A modern Endoscopy Unit has been set up in the Pediatric Department of Lahore General Hospital, adding that it would be possible to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal diseases of children from infants to 18 years of age.

It was further added that a modern endoscopy facility will be available which will not only eliminate the worries of parents about their children’s diseases but also help the poor patients who will not have to incur huge expenses in private hospitals for this purpose.

These views were expressed by the Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute Prof. Dr. Sardar Muhammad Al-freed Zafar while inaugurating the Endoscopy Unit in the Department of Pediatrics of LGH.

Principal PGMI said that Dr. Muhammad Aftab, Nusrat Tahira, Samreen Irshad, Tayyaba Habib and Rukhsana Arshad have undergone special training to perform modern endoscopy procedures and all other matters will be performed here subsequently.

He further said that this facility is available on a very limited scale from the Department of Pediatrics in the public sector hospitals while the modern equipment installed in the General Hospital with the help of philanthropists would facilitate the treatment of patients across the province.

Prof. Al-freed Zafar expressed happiness over the fact that there is no dearth of wealthy and philanthropists in our society who are always ready to serve humanity and various departments in Government hospitals which are being run successfully with the help of these generous people.

He further said that it was the responsibility of the civil society especially the corporate sector to spend a portion of its income on the welfare of the poor people especially on prevention and treatment of diseases so as to provide a healthy environment to the new generation.

Principal PGMI said that the high performance of LGH is a testament to the fact that the philanthropists are proud to contribute financially to the hospital and they are convinced that their contribution is being spent honestly and for the specific purpose they have donated.

He said that the doors of LGH are open to all the rich and the poor alike and the staff of the hospital are always there to serve the suffering humanity and fulfill their duties.

He added that he would devote all his energies to make the LGH a model Institution in the light of the orders of the Punjab Government and no minute would be spared in this regard.
