All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) senior leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq paid glowing tributes to July 13, 1931 martyrs on their martyrdom anni-versary, today.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said that July 13, 1931 was a turning point in the contemporary history of Kashmir when 22 people were martyred in cold blood by the Dogra forces.

He said this day is commemorated as Martyrs’ Day in IIOJK when people of Kashmir remember their martyrs and honour their sacrifices. He said till a few years back commemorative marches and rallies were held at the Martyrs’ Graveyard to honour them, but in the current time authorities have banned all manner of people’s freedom to express and assemble.

The Mirwaiz urged the people to remember their martyrs by offering fateha for them and praying for their salvation and honour them by continuing to strive for the realisation of their vision for which they laid down their lives.—KMS
