Senior leaders of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi have expressed deep regret and sorrow over killing of three civilians by Indian troops in Poonch district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the incident should be thoroughly investigated by the agencies concerned and the perpetrators must be brought to book.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said he grieved over the loss of precious human lives and condemns bloodshed, which has been taking place for decades in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and continues, with apparently no end in sight.
He said he has repeatedly advocated for exploration of engagement and talks as the viable peaceful alternative available to resolve issues and put an end to loss of human lives.
Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in a statement in Srinagar also condemned the Poonch civilian killings and reiterated the need to hold a dialogue on the Kashmir dispute. He also expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.
Hurriyat leaders Khawaja Firdous, Syed Bashir Andrabi and Junaidul Islam in a joint statement issued in Srinagar said the killing of innocent civilians by Indian soldiers in fake encounters and during custody has become a routine in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
They said the Modi government has broken all records of atrocities in the territory to suppress the Kashmiris’ just struggle for right to self-determination and urged the international community to take notice of the war crimes committed by Indian soldiers against innocent Kashmiris.
The Hurriyat leaders said that India should remember that it could not subdue the passion of the Kashmiri people and they would continue their struggle till complete success.
It should be remembered that during a siege and search operation in Bafliaz area of Poonch district, Indian soldiers have brutally tortured and martyred three innocent civilians, Mahfouz Hussain, Muhammad Shaukat and Shabbir Ahmed.
APHC leader Devender Singh Behl in his statement issued in Jammu said that killing and other rights violations could not suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom movement and the people of Kashmir would take it to its logical conclusion at all costs.—KMS
