Mirwaiz expresses grief over death of mentor and teacher in IIOJK

Senior APHC leader Umar Farooq has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of his mentor and teacher Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani, popularly known as Mahad Sahab, in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and kashmir.

The deceased was a leading religious scholar from Shahr-e-Khaas, Srinagar, and a well-known businessman. He had a very deep association with the Mirwaz family.

Mahad was one of the mentors of Mohammad Farooq when he became the Mirwaz at the age of 17, and again of Umar Farooq when he became the Mirwaiz in 1990.

In a statement, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq paid glowing tributes to Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani Sahab for his dedication and support to him in grooming him to become the Mirwaiz, and termed his demise as a great loss.

Mirwaiz, who also led the funeral prayers of the deceased, praised his teacher’s knowledge, affection, compassion, prudence and understanding as a religious scholar and his deep respect for the contribution in the field of religious education and its dissemination.

Mirwaiz expressed condolences with all the bereaved family members, especially his son Khursheed Ahmad Wani.—KMS
