Minster says vaccination only solution Punjab vaccinates 12.6m people

The Punjab Health Department on Tuesday said that over 12.6 million people have been administered corona vaccine across Punjab province.

In a statement issued here, the provincial health department said that the coronavirus vaccination and SOPs awareness week has been extended to July 25.

The vaccination and SOPs awareness week has created interest in citizens to get inoculated. Punjab Health Secretary Amir Jan has said that the province has made record vaccination continuously for the seventh day. “In last 24 hours 372,554 people have been administered vaccine shots in province, which is maximum record of vaccination in a day till now,” the secretary claimed.

He said that the Punjab Health Department has administered vaccine to 12,674,477 people till date. In last 24 hours 38,871 citizens were vaccinated, according to health officials.

“Only vaccination is an effective treatment of the novel coronavirus and its latest Delta strain,” Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said.

The minister said that the government is utilising all-out resources to protect its citizens from the virus. “People should remember the fact that the government’s efforts alone cannot materialise this dream and people would have to extend cooperation”, she underscored.

She also rubbished fears and rumours about the side-effects of vaccine, saying that the only way to fight this pandemic is vaccination.

Dr Yasmin Rashid also appealed to the youth of age 18 years and above to get themselves vaccinated to ward off threat of corona virus.
