Punjab Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Social Welfare Raja Basharat on Tuesday ordered to beef up security across the province following blasts in Quetta and Peshawar.
He was presiding over a meeting on law and order at the Civil Secretariat here on Tuesday. Additional Chief Secretary Home, the Punjab IG, Additional IG Special Branch, Additional IG CTD and other officers were also attended the meeting. Raja Basharat also directed the law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant. He said that foolproof security arrangements should be made in public places, government offices, places of worship and educational institutions. Raja Basharat expressed concern that anti-Pakistan forces wanted to damage religious harmony in Pakistan. “At this time, the nation needs to be united and together we may crush the enemy’s ambitions,” he said. He appealed to the followers of all religions and faiths to beware of the internal elements that were being used as tools of the enemy. Law Minister Raja Basharat asked the scholars of all schools and district peace committees to play an exemplary role in maintaining religious harmony as per tradition. Raja Basharat said that all government leaders, including Prime Minister Imran Khan, had strongly condemned the insulting sketches, while the government and the opposition in the National Assembly have passed a unanimous resolution condemning the sketches. He said that our innocent civilians and Pakistani forces had made peace by making thousands of sacrifices and any attempt to harm it would not be tolerated. He vowed that all possible steps would be taken to curb any form of terrorism.
