Minister for stepped up efforts ward off dengue threat

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has asked all Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to enhance anti-dengue surveillance while reviewing anti-dengue activities being conducted across the province Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid was chairing the Cabinet Committee meeting, which was also attended by Punjab Minister for Auqaf Syed Saeedul Hassan Shah, Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik, Secretary Primary and Secondary healthcare Department Sarah Aslam, Deputy Commissioner Mudassar Riaz where Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners joined via video link.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Police, DGPR, Civil Aviation, Livestock, PHA, DHA, Rescue1122, Special branch, Higher Education, Local Government, Punjab Healthcare Commission and other departments. The P&SH Secretary presented progress review of different departments.

Representatives of different departments shared their respective activities with the participants of the meeting.

The health minister said, “It has become very important to control dengue as it can spread due to carelessness. “Indoor surveillance must be enhanced immediately.

All commissioners and Deputy Commissioners must take action against officials not reporting any surveillance activities”, the minister stressed.

She directed that the DG must personally supervise anti-dengue activities from THQ hospitals, adding that there are evidence of increase in suspected cases and the Punjab Health Commission must personally monitor these activities.

The minister warned that bogus reporting on dengue surveillance is unacceptable and districts falling in red zone must immediately take measures to control dengue.

Dr Yasmin underscored that all institutions must share their respective reports with the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department and all CEOs must make anti-dengue activities successful. Dengue larva must be eliminated after identification of hotspots.

All institutions must work in collaboration to achieve the results. The SOPS must be enforced as per recommendations of DEAG.

I appeal people to keep their homes, offices and shops clean. Surveillance and larvicidal activities must be especially focused. All institutions must play part with responsibility.

The Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners are responsible for making the required resources available.

The Corona vaccination is underway at full pace in all districts of Punjab. The pace of vaccination process has been increased.

Chief Secretary Punjab said that Lahore face bigger threat of dengue and plans for UC level must be prepared.

The Dengue Expert Advisory Group has been asked to focus on monitoring and measures on dengue awareness must be adopted.
