Minister expresses concern over theft of 32,000 cusecs water

Sindh Minister of Environment has expressed concern over the theft of 32,000 cusecs of water between Taunsa and Guddu Barrage and has said that water scarcity has intensified in Sindh.

Environment Minister Ismail Rahoo said that IRSA has failed to distribute water fairly in the provinces, the federation should ensure the neutrality of IRSA, agricultural lands of many districts including Badin, Thatta, Sujawal have become barren.

Ismail Rahoo said that water shortage at Kotri Barrage has reached 67%, only 5300 cusecs of water is available at Kotri instead of 15700 cusecs, people are not even getting drinking water, dearth of water on Indus river has extreme adverse effects on climate and due to climate change severe shortage of water has emerged.

Provincial Environment Minister said that water scarcity in Sindh is intensifying and this is causing serious problems, not only for human but also for livestock and aquatic and wildlife. We are facing extreme heat and drought.There are also concerns about the lack of food
production.
