PESHAWAR – Mian Aslam Iqbal, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) nominee for the Punjab Chief Minister office, secured transit remand from the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday.

Justice Waqar Ahmed of the PHC granted him bail.

During the hearing, the counsel for Mian Aslam Iqbal told the court that his client was booked in different cases and in different cities including Islamabad, Faisalabad and Lahore, and it is apprehension that the police would arrest him.

The court asked whether he was arrested in May 9 cases to which a law officer said that he disappeared after that day, and was not arrested.

“You couldn’t identify his location,” remarked the judge.

The court allowed the plea and granted him transit remand.

In a related development, the Peshawar High Court also granted bail to PTI Senator Faisal Javed, who was instructed to furnish a bail bond of Rs100,000. Later, Senator Faisal Javed attended the District and Sessions Court in Islamabad, presided over by Senior Civil Judge Qudratullah, regarding a case filed against him at the Banigala Police Station.

Despite an initial arrest warrant issued in his absence, the court suspended further action and scheduled the next hearing for March 13th.
