Mehmood Khan Achakzai nominated for President’s post by PTI backed SIC

ISLAMABAD – Sunni Ittehad Council has officially nominated Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party President Mehmood Khan Achakzai as its presidential candidate for the upcoming presidential elections, set to take place on March 9, 2024.

SIC nominated Pashtun nationalist leader as a contender for the coveted constitutional post against Asif Zardari.

Achakzai, a well-known Pashtun leader advocating for Pashtun rights, will face PPP leader in rrace for president as his nomination papers are expected to be submitted today.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) decided to ally with SIC and had considered fielding its own candidate for the presidency to counter Asif Zardari. PTI’s legal team is preparing to submit the nomination papers for their candidate.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the schedule for the presidential elections, with polling set for March 9.
