‘Mehfil-e-Musalama’ a rich tradition that refreshes tragedy of Karbala

Mehfil-e-Musalma plays an important role in the evolution of consciousness particularly in the backdrop of Karbala and the tragedy associated with it.

These views were expressed by speakers and poets at the “Mahfil-e-Masalama” organized on the occasion of the Holy Month of Muharram-ul-Haram in connection with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Pakistan.

Chairman, Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL), Dr Yousuf Khushk, in his introductory address earlier held Mehfil-e-Musalma was a tradition of the subcontinent and was as relevant as one hundred years ago.

The Mehfil-e-Musalma was presided over by Dr. Khurshid Rizvi (Lahore). Syed Farasat Rizvi (Karachi) was the Chief Guest while Dr. Sarwat Zahra (UAE) and Sabir Raza (UK) were the Guests of Honor. Anjum Khaliq was the moderator.

Mehfil-e-Musalama was organized in collaboration with the Literary and Cultural Organization “Imkaan” Islamabad.

Chairman Academy Dr. Yousuf Kushk said that Mehfil-e-Musalma played an important role in the evolution of consciousness.

In the battle of Karbala, the Prophet’s family has a great history of courage and bravery.
Hazrat Imam Hussain raised the word of truth in the face of false forces and sacrificed his life for the survival of Islam.

He said that this great sacrifice of the martyrs of Karbala is a great lesson for us Muslims that we should not hesitate to make any sacrifice for the glory of Islam and make truth the guiding principle of our lives.
