The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 78 illegal commercial buildings and the premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in Lahore’s various housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas on Monday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 21 buildings in Gulberg and Faisal Town, 25 in Gulshan-e-Ravi, and 32 in Allama Iqbal Town during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Meezan Bank, Al-Karim Mall, Engine, Levi’s outlet, Breakout, Last Look, Click, Angels Foundation, Kanz-ul-Iman Beacon School & Meezan Academy, Glorious Grammar School, Shaheen Public School, Readers Grammar School, Future Learning Campus, Imperial School System, Creative Grammar School, Hilton’s Academy, Gondal Hospital, Khalid Medical Centre, diagnostic labs, grocery stores, food outlet, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, supervised the operations. LDA’s enforcement teams carried out these operations with the assistance of the Police.
According to the LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings before carrying out these operations.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against violations of building and parking bylaws, encroachments, illegal commercial use and non-payment of commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and Lahore’s housing schemes.
