Meeting reviews progress of ongoing agri projects in Punjab

The present Government has initiated a number of development projects under Prime Minister’s Agricultural Emergency Program for the prosperity of the farmers which will mark the beginning of a new era of prosperity for farming community said Malik Nauman Ahmad Langrial Minister for Agriculture, Punjab while presided over a high level meeting of all the stakeholders held to overview ongoing projects under the PAMRA Act and Prime Minister’s Agricultural Emergency Program. Progressive Farmer Jahangir Khan Tareen made special participation at this eve.
The meeting was attended by Naveed Bhinder Chairman PAMRA, WasifKhursid Secretary Agriculture Punjab, Rana Ali Arshad Additional Secretary (Task Force), Dr. Anjum Ali Director General Agriculture (Ext), Dr. Abid Mahmood Director General Agriculture ( Research), ShahidQadir Chief Advisor Media Minister for Agriculture Punjab, M Rafiq Akhtar Director Agriculture Information Punjab along with other stakeholders.
Speaking on the occasion to media Mr. Jahangir Khan Tareen said that the top priority of the present government is the prosperity of the farmers. PAMRA Act has been implemented to facilitate the farmers.
After which all market committees around the country will adopt the new system Separate markets of fruits, cranes, green zones, cotton, fisheries, vegetables, sugar, jaggery and other commodities will be established throughout the state which will create a healthy competitive trend among the farmers and Customers will also get better facilities.Under the PAMRA Act, farmers can also sell agricultural commodities directly to consumers, which will help limit the role of the middleman. Under the new law, the interests of all stakeholders will be taken into account so as to harmonize.
Jahangir Khan Tareen added that under the Prime Minister’s Emergency Program at the national level, projects worth Rs 300 billion are being implemented to increase the yield per acre of wheat, paddy, sugarcane, Oil seeds Crops, leading to a new agricultural development.Minister of Agriculture Punjab Malik Nauman Ahmad Langrial has said that under the guidance of Jahangir Khan Tareen, various steps were being taken for the prosperity of the farmers. We are burning our midnight oil for the development of agriculture.
Minister of Agriculture has issued directions for procurement of trans plantersand dryers to minimize the post-harvest loss of paddy. He added that scientists should work for seasonal strength resistant varieties to increase the yield per acre of crops. In the end, Jahangir Khan Tareen and Agriculture Minister Punjab paid their tribute to media fortheir contribution regarding Agricultural uplift.
