A delegation from Dow University of Health Sciences met with Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab. The delegation, which included Dr. IzharHussain, Dr. Syed Tariq Shahid, Mujeeb Ali Khan, Muhammad AhadWasique Sheikh, and Muhammad Ayaz, presented 1,500 locally produced anti-rabies vaccines to the mayor. Accompanying the Mayor were Municipal Commissioner Syed AfzalZaidi and Dr. ShamaMithani from the Gujri Maternity Home. Mayor Wahab expressed his appreciation for the locally produced vaccines, calling it a promising development.
He assured full support from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) for this cause. Mayor Wahab also thanked Dow University for providing facilities for testing medicines and drinking water. He highlighted that AbbasiShaheed Hospital and Landhi Medical Complex are already offering free anti-rabies vaccines to citizens.
The mayor emphasized efforts to extend these services to other KMC hospitals, especially in District West, which reports the highest incidents of dog bites. Mayor Wahab concluded by stating that KMC plans to introduce anti-rabies vaccines in its hospitals in District West soon, ensuring broader access to this vital healthcare service.
