Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, local officials, elected representatives, and the administration, visited the Pipri Pumping Station to review ongoing development works.

The visit also included a briefing by the Project Director of Karachi Water and Sewerage Improvement Project, Osman Mauzzam, regarding the project’s progress. The upgrade work at the Pipri Pumping Station is being carried out under the Karachi Water and Sewerage Improvement Project. As part of the upgrade, a 4.5-kilometer-long 72-inch diameter pipeline is being laid.

The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 2.3 billion. Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab shared that the station currently supplies seven million gallons of water to Karachi daily. However, due to leakage, up to 300,000 gallons of water were being wasted each day.

Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab emphasized that the leakage issue would be addressed upon completion of the upgrade. The work is expected to be completed by February 2025, significantly reducing water wastage. “Karachi’s water problem is one that the Pakistan Peoples Party is dedicated to solving,” stated Mayor Wahab. He further assured, “We, as workers of the party, are putting in every effort to resolve the city’s water issues as quickly as possible.”

Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab also mentioned that more projects, aligned with the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, are underway to improve the city’s infrastructure and provide better services to the residents of Karachi.
