The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday dismissed the pleas against detention of Khadija Shah and others involved in the May 9 incidents.
A two-judge LHC bench, comprising Justice Ali Baqir Najafi and Justice Amjad Rafiq, issued a 26-page written verdict, dismissing the pleas against the detention of Khadija Shah and others including Huma Saeed, Rizwan Zia and Zubair Malik.
“The detention cannot be declared illegal at this stage. The police, in this context, had immediately registered a case and launched investigations, and whoever involved was identified according to the law,” the text of the court read.
“The fateful events of May 9 revealed the intolerance and dangerous fanaticism of a charged mob.
These unfortunate incidents also challenged the civil judicial system. Before this incident, people had not witnessed such vandalism in Jinnah House,” it added.
