KARACHI – Update for Matric and Intermediate students as annual exams 2026 are slated after Ramadan.
The government officially abolished traditional marks system for Matric and Intermediate students, replacing it with a modern grading system that aligns with international standards. The change will be implemented gradually across all educational boards of the province.
The new system received official approval and follows the federal IBCC policy. He stressed that the initiative aims to bring uniformity across all boards and pave the way for a future GPA system in Sindh. The new grading system will begin with the annual exams of 9th and 11th classes. The system will expand to 10th and 12th class exams, fully replacing the marks system.
Under the new grading system, students’ performance will be reported in grades instead of marks:
Matric New Grading
| Grade | Percentage |
| A++ | 96–100% |
| A+ | 91–95% |
| A | 86–90% |
| B++ | 81–85% |
| B+ | 76–80% |
| B | 71–75% |
| C+ | 61–70% |
| C | 51–60% |
| D | 40–50% |
| U | Below 40% |
The passing marks threshold has been set at 40%, meaning students scoring below this in any paper will fail.
Minister Ismail Rahu highlighted that this transformative shift is part of a broader vision to modernize education, standardize performance evaluation, and align Sindh’s education system with global practices.
This historic decision is set to reshape the future of education in Sindh, with students, teachers, and parents preparing for the transition from a numerical marks system to a fully graded international-standard framework.
