LAHORE – The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore is mulling over delay in the start of the annual matriculation examinations 2026 due to holy month of Ramazan.
The exams under the Lahore Board are expected to begin from March 27, after the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, instead of March 1.
The board has requested permission to start the exams on this date, with the final schedule to be approved by the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairpersons.
Some students have expressed concerns, suggesting that exams should start from March 1, allowing only a one-week break for Eid.
They also noted that the Pakistan Super League is scheduled to begin on March 23, which could further impact the timetable.
Earlier, Punjab has announced the schedule for holding the annual 8th-grade board exams after the system remained suspended for four years.
Reports said the Punjab Examination Commission (PECA) has finalized the schedule with Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirming that preparations are underway to conduct the exams across the province according to a unified pattern.
PECA has also started coordinating with district education authorities to ensure smooth conduct of the exams.
