Says Gilani’s appointment proved that PPP again tricked PML-N

Amraiz Khan

Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the third wave of coronavirus is intensified across the country, adding that the coronavirus continues to wreak havoc in the country as 63 people have lost their lives including 43 from Punjab during the last 24 hours.

She said this while addressing a press conference at the DGPR office here on Friday. Talking to the media, Dr Firdous said the corona situation is alarming in 4 major cities and the ventilated patient ratio is increasing day by day.

She said that 65% of vents in Multan, 62% in Islamabad, 60% in Gujranwala and 54% in Lahore have been occupied.

Likewise, 95% oxygen beds in Gujrat, 85% in Gujranwala, 73% in Peshawar and 49% in Islamabad have been occupied, she said.

The SACM said that following the reports of a persistent surge in the number of Covid-19 new positive cases in Punjab, the government has imposed smart lockdown in 4 localities of Rawalpindi, 3 localities of Gujranwala and 4 localities of Sialkot.

She said that all business centers, restaurants and public and private offices will remain closed in sealed areas and there will be a restriction on the mass movement.

However, medical services, pharmacies, collection points and laboratories will remain open round the clock and seven days a week, she said.

Similarly, grocery and general stores, flour chakkis, fruit and vegetable shops, tandoors and petrol pumps will be allowed to remain open between 9 am and 7 pm.

Dr Firdous said that a total of 119,581 front-line health care workers have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine whereas 49,852 have received the second dose and so far 130,987 citizens have been vaccinated.

Responding to a question, the Special Assistant said the nomination of Yousaf Raza Gillani as leader of the opposition in the Senate has proved that the PPP has again tricked the PML-N and Jati Umrah is in a state of shock.

She said that Maryam Safdar was conspiring to trespass the NAB office like a bandit queen (phoolon devi) for some political mileage.

Maryam Safdar stages tragic scenes when in jail and creates adventurous situations while she is away from the clutches of law, she said.

I would like to remind her that she is a convicted lady and ineligible. If Maryam is not involved in any illegal activity then she should clear her position as she is the daughter of a person who has ruled the country for forty long years, she said.

She said that Maryam is enticing the youth against the state and is trying to make them a victim of corona while her real brothers are enjoying in London.

Responding to another question, Dr Firdous said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman is in a state of disarray, as Asif Zardari has made him a laughing stock in the political arena.

She expressed sympathy with him as Maulana has been isolated and left in the political wilderness after being used by PPP and PML-N.

The PTI has come into power constitutionally and democratically and will complete its constitutional term, concluded the SACM.
