Mahnoor is getting hitched to Azan Jabbar, son of businessman and industrialist Jabbar Khalid, in a private nikah on Saturday, September 12, at the Sharif family residence in Jati Umra, Lahore.
And unlike the grand, high-profile celebrations often associated with Pakistan’s most powerful political families, this one is expected to be deliberately low-key. The ceremony is likely to be a close family affair, with around 100 guests reportedly expected to attend. Relatives and members of the extended family are said to make up most of the guest list, keeping the occasion away from the glare of a larger public celebration.
The marriage between Mahnoor and Azan is understood to have been arranged between the two families. Azan’s father, Jabbar Khalid, is associated with the flour-milling industry.
For now, however, the Sharif family has kept the details close to the chest. There has been no detailed official announcement about the wedding, and questions surrounding a reception, walima or any larger celebration remain unanswered.
Mahnoor Safdar
The wedding comes at an interesting moment in Mahnoor’s life. Only recently, she was celebrating another major milestone — completing her undergraduate degree in Anthropology at London University. Mahnoor studied from 2023 to 2026, with her graduation taking place during the university’s September 2026 ceremonies.
Her achievement was a proud family moment, with Maryam Nawaz reportedly travelling to London for the occasion. With all three of Maryam’s children now having completed their higher education, the graduation marked an important milestone for the family. And now, almost immediately, comes another.
Despite growing up in one of Pakistan’s most recognisable political families, Mahnoor has largely managed to keep her personal life away from public view. She is the youngest daughter of Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd.) Muhammad Safdar Awan, with an elder sister, Mehr-un-Nisa Safdar, and brother Junaid Safdar.
Unlike her mother, who has spent years at the centre of Pakistan’s political storm, Mahnoor has remained largely removed from politics and the media spotlight. Her appearances at family weddings and celebrations, however, have occasionally drawn attention — particularly when it comes to fashion.
Over the years, pics of Mahnoor in outfits by some of the fashion world’s biggest names, including Manish Malhotra and Faraz Manan, have circulated widely on social media. That relatively private image is perhaps what makes the upcoming wedding all the more intriguing.
