More women accuse Punjab MPA of harassment
Actress Momina Iqbal has spoken out about prolonged harassment, abusive messages, and severe mental distress, claiming that despite repeatedly approaching police and cybercrime authorities, she was not provided adequate protection. After the issue gained nationwide attention, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took strict notice of the matter. According to media reports, the name of Member Punjab Assembly surfaced in connection with the case.
In her complaint submitted to cybercrime authorities, Momina Iqbal reportedly nominated both the politician and his wife. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has initiated proceedings and summoned both parties.
The controversy intensified after the actress alleged that certain individuals linked to the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office attempted to pressure her into withdrawing or avoiding pursuit of the case. In emotional statements, Momina Iqbal said that she and her family had been facing extreme psychological stress and threats. She warned that if justice was not served, she would hold a press conference and present all the evidence publicly. Following the seriousness of the allegations, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz personally intervened in the matter. Momina Iqbal later appreciated the government’s response, thanking the Chief Minister for taking immediate action, referring the case to the relevant authorities, and providing comprehensive security to her and her family.
She also praised the NCCIA for issuing notices to the accused parties. The actress further requested the public not to make premature judgments before her official statement is fully recorded. However, she vowed to expose those responsible for the harassment, stating that several other women had also contacted her claiming that the same MPA had harassed them and that they were willing to testify as witnesses.
Momina Iqbal added that she intends to take the case to its logical conclusion and thanked the public and media community for supporting her during this difficult time.
