SEOUL – The martial law imposed by President Yoon Suk Yeol was lifted after the lawmakers and the public showed the strong resistance in South Korea on Wednesday.

The citizens laid down before the military trucks and tanks, and stopped them from entering the main buildings and points.

According to the media reports, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol was forced to lift the martial law imposed in the country within just six hours.

The opposition leaders stated that this victory for democracy was made possible by the unparalleled unity of parliament and the public.

A large number of people gathered outside the parliament building, forming a barrier around it.

As a result, the military was unable to enter the parliament, and the members of parliament successfully passed a resolution with a large majority to annul the martial law.

In other key locations across the country, the public took on security duties and prevented the military from entering. The crowds gathered on the highways and public places across the country.

After the declaration of martial law, the people started gathering in the large numbers outside the National Assembly

The cat-and-mouse game between the security forces and the public lasted for six hours which attracted the attention of international media.
