The police on Sunday said that the situation was ‘under control’ and investigations being started after a man was lynched by crazy mob at a political rally in Mardan.
DPO Najeebur Rehman said the police took the body in possession and the crowd was dispersed adding detailed investigations have been started.
Meanwhile, SSP Operations Rokhanzeb Khan added the event occurred at political rally organized by the PTI. A local cleric named Nigar Alam was attacked by people with punches, kicks and clubs. He added even the police efforts to rescue the cleric proved futile as the people barged into the shop and attacked Nigar.
This is a painful, however not the only incident in Mardan, as in 2017, Mashal Khan, a young aspiring soul was attacked on the allegations of blasphemy. NNI
