A man allegedly killed his teen daughter in the name of honour, the police said on Monday.
According to police, the incident occurred in Mian Channu area of Khanewal district where a man killed his daughter after she refused to end her relationship with a youth. The deceased was identified as 16-year-old Samreen.
The police shifted the dead body to hospital for medico-legal formalities while the accused fled the scene. The police have registered a case and started further investigation.
Meanwhile, a four-year-old child drowned in Daoke Canal in Muridke of Sheikhupura on Monday.
According to Rescue 1122 and police, the four-year-old Samar Abbas s/o Muhammad Ilyas was playing outside his residence when he fell into the canal and drowned.
The divers of Rescue 1122 fished out the body of the child and handed it over to the heirs.
An additional district and sessions court on Monday granted four-day remand of a suspect allegedly involved in abduction, torture and attempt to rape a female sub-inspector.
The Muzaffargarh City Police produced the suspect in the court of a magistrate, who approved the police requested for physical remand of the suspect identified as Kashif.
The incident occurred on Sunday when a woman sub-inspector was abducted by the suspect when she was on the way to her office at Saddr police station.
The accused Kashif intercepted and abducted the female cop at gunpoint and then took her to a garden near Chaman bypass in a car, tortured her, and then attempted to rape her. She was later able to reach the police station, from where she was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
The police arrested the suspect and registered a case against him. On the other hand, Punjab IG Police Inam Ghani took notice of the incident and directed the Dera Ghazi Khan regional police officer (RPO) to submit a report of the incident.
