The City Police have arrested an accused who confessed to raping and murdering a seven-year-old girl in Baghbanpura area whose dead body was found on Sunday.
Police have shifted the dead body to a morgue for post-mortem and started further investigation in the case.
The police said the accused identified as Nadeem is married and neighbour of the victim girl. SP Cantonment Saad Aziz and ASP Baghbanpura visited the spot where the dead body of the girl was found. The SP assured the family members of the slain girl that justice will be done in the case. He vowed to crush such criminals with iron hand.
ASP Investigation Cantonment Dr Anoosh Masood also visited the crime scene where investigation teams collected important evidence, the TV channel reported. During the initial investigation, accused Nadeem has confessed to his gruesome crime. As per the initial investigation Nadeem’s wife had some quarrel with him and went to her parents home.
On the day of the unfortunate incident, the victim girl went to buy cooking oil where the accused was already present. He bought some sweets for him and gave 10 rupees to her and took her to his home where he raped her. The TV channel reported that when the girl resisted and raised her voice, Nadeem strangulated her by putting hand on her mouth. He fled away from the crime scene by locking his house. Like many other cases, Nadeem also took part in the search of the seven-year-old girl.
