Man arrested in Pakistan’s Pakpattan for placing bounty on CJP Isa

SAHIWAL Police have arrested a man from Punjab city of Pakpattan for provoking people to assassinate Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa.

The suspect identified as Abdul Rehman has released a video statement in which he placed bounty on the country’s top judge, saying he would give a plot and shop to the person, who kills CJP Isa.

Police have also arrested the man named Muhammad Hussian for filming the video. A case has been registered against the suspects under Anti-Terrorism Act and other serious sections.

Earlier, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) Naib Emir Peer Zaheer-ul-Hassan Shah was arrested on Monday after he was booked over charges of threatening Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa.

Hammad Hussain, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Qilla Gujjar Sindh Police Station, lodged complaint against the TLP vice-president.

According to the reports, Zaheer-ur-Hassan Shah had issued Fatwa to kill Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa and announced a bounty of Rs10m in this regard. He had issued fatwa over a verdict penned down by the top judge.

In the FIR, the charges include violations of the Anti-Terrorism Act, incitement of religious hatred, spreading disorder, pressuring the judiciary, threatening the top judiciary, interfering in government affairs and obstructing the legal duties.

Peer Zaheer Hassan Shah, according to the FIR, incited hatred against the higher judiciary during a protest outside the press club. The TLP vice president announced a reward of 10 million rupees for anyone who would bring the head of Justice Faez Isa. The police also booked 1500 TLP workers.
