Man Arrested For Playing Noor Jehans Songs At High Volume In Pattoki

OKARA – Police have arrested a man for playing songs of late melody queen Noor Jehan at a high volume in Pattoki, a town in Kasur district of Punjab.

The arrest occurred in the Habibabad area after local authorities responded to a complaint about the loud noise emanating from a nearby residence. The police seized an amplifier and speakers from the individual’s possession.

The man was reportedly listening to a popular song by Pakistan’s renowned singer, Noor Jehan, when the authorities intervened.

As a result, the police registered a case against the individual under the Punjab Sound Act, which regulates the permissible volume levels of sound and noise in residential areas.

A video showing the man listening to the music has also surfaced online, adding more attention to the case.

The Punjab Sound Act of 2012 was introduced to curb noise pollution in the province, particularly in residential and sensitive areas.

The law aims to maintain public peace by controlling the use of loudspeakers and sound systems that can disrupt the environment. It sets limits on permissible sound levels, particularly in residential and commercial zones, and penalizes individuals who violate these regulations.

Offenders can face fines, confiscation of equipment, or even imprisonment depending on the severity of the violation.

With this law, the government aims to protect the citizens’ right to peace and tranquility while promoting responsible behavior regarding noise levels in public spaces.
