Malkani lauds youth, environmental focus at eco-green-lateef symposium

The Minister for Universities and Boards, Muhammad Ali Malkani, emphasized the crucial role of connecting younger generations with environmental issues and artistic expression during his address at the 1st International Symposium titled “Eco Art: Green Latif – Nature and Culture.

” Hosted by Shaheed Allah BukshSoomro (SABS) University of Art Design and Heritages Jamshoro in collaboration with the Center for Knowledge Development (CKD) Pvt. Ltd., the symposium aimed to explore the intersections of art, design, nature, and sustainability.

The two-day event featured the inauguration of the Poetry, Art, Mathematics (PAM) Research Center, an eco-art transformation exhibition, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing between SABS University and CKD, and the unveiling of the Eco Art Latif Garden. Key collaborators included the University of Sufism and Modern Sciences Bhitshah and Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro.

Minister Malkani highlighted Shah Abdul LatifBhittai’s universal message of peace and love, noting how the Eco-Green-Lateef initiative bridges Sufism, art, science, and technology. He praised SABS University for its innovative approach to integrating Shah Latif’s poetry with environmental consciousness, emphasizing the importance of fostering positive global perceptions of Sindh through such initiatives.

The Minister expressed pride in the younger generation’s engagement with Latif’s poetry through modern technology and artistic methods, recognizing it as a response to societal challenges such as negativity, terrorism, and extremism. He commended the symposium for reflecting Sindh’s legacy of love and peace. Prof.

Arabella Bhutto, Vice-Chancellor of SABS University, expressed her honor in hosting the symposium, noting its significant contribution to the eco art discourse and the promotion of peace and positivity. The event also saw the participation of various distinguished academics and officials, including Prof. Dr. NiloferShaikh and Prof. Dr. TauhaHussain Ali, who contributed to the discussions on advancing environmental and artistic initiatives.
