LAHORE – An international technology delegation from Google held a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to discuss the possibility of establishing a Chromebook manufacturing facility in the province.
During the meeting, the delegation proposed setting up the factory in Punjab, a move that would not only create jobs but also boost the region’s technological infrastructure.
The delegation outlined plans for the Chromebooks to be equipped with three major and essential software, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) toolkits and AI-driven modules, making the devices more advanced and aligned with the demands of modern education and tech industries.
Maryam Nawaz, expressing her enthusiasm for the initiative, assured the delegation of the Punjab government’s full support in bringing this project to life. She emphasized the importance of making Punjab a hub for Artificial Intelligence, highlighting that the provincial government is actively working on integrating Information Technology into the core curriculum of schools.
“We are committed to making Punjab an Artificial Intelligence hub,” said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. “We are working towards incorporating IT as a fundamental part of education to prepare our future generations for the challenges of the digital age.”
The delegation from Google for Education praised Maryam Nawaz’s vision, particularly her focus on providing modern IT education to children, especially girls. They described her efforts as inspiring, and expressed confidence that the collaboration would help transform Punjab into a major center for technology and education.
The project, if realized, could significantly enhance access to modern education tools, positioning Punjab as a leader in technology-driven education in the region.
