RAWALPINDI – Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik was appointed as new director general of the Pakistan’s premier spy agency, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).

Reports said Lt Gen Asim Malik will assume his new responsibilities on September 30, replacing outgoing spymaster Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum. He is currently serving as the Adjutant General at GHQ.

Know About Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik

The Hilal-i-Imtiaz recipient has previously commanded an Infantry Division in Balochistan and an Infantry Brigade in Waziristan. Additionally, he has served as the Chief Instructor at the National Defense University and as an instructor at the Command and Staff College in Quetta.

Lieutenant General Asim is a graduate of Fort Leavenworth and the Royal College of Defence Studies, and he has received an honorary sword in his course.

Lt Gen Asim Malik’s Father

Former Lt Gen Ghulam Muhammad Malik, who is also called G.M. Malik, is the father of Lt Gen Asim Malik, who has now been appointed as new spymaster.

He is former commander of the 10 Corps, Rawalpindi of the Pakistan Army. He served as commandant of the Pakistan Military Academy from 1987 to 1989. In the 1990s, he was given command of the X Corps. He retired from the army in 1995.

When Will New DG ISI Take Charge?

As per reports, Lt Gen Asim Malik will assume charge as new DG ISI on September 30, replacing Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum.
